Daliya Khichdi

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Daliya
  • 4-5 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 small Onion chopped
  • 1 Potato chopped
  • 1 Carrot chopped
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Tomato chopped
  • 1 tbsp Water
  • ½ cup Peas
  • Salt
  • 4 cup Water
  • ½ cup Water
  • 2 Ghee big spoons
  • ¼ tsp Asafoetida
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 inch Ginger thin sliced
  • 2 Green Chilli sliced
  • ½ tsp Black Mustard Seeds
  • 2 Dry Red Chillies
  • Curry Leaves
  • ½ tsp Red Chilli Powder

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl add daliya, water and mix well.
  • After daliya settles down seive out the water.
  • In a cooker add oil and let it heat a bit.
  • Next add onion to it and saute till pink.
  • Next add potato, carrot and mix well.
  • Now add turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Next add tomato, water mix and cook til tomatoes are mushy.
  • Next add daliya, peas, salt and mix well.
  • Now add water mix again, cover and let it take 5-6 whistles on medium flame.
  • After 5-6 whistles turn off the heat and let it cool down completely.
  • Next turn on the heat again, add water mix and let it boil again.
  • Now in another pan add ghee, asafoetida, cumin seeds, ginger, green chilli and saute a bit.
  • Next add mustard seeds mix well and turn off the heat.
  • Next add dry red chillies, curry leaves, red chilli powder and add to the khichdi.
