How to Make Chaat Masala At Home | Chat Masala Recipe | Spicy, chunky and tasty chaat masala is one such ingredient that multiply taste of many dishes. Chaat masala is made from mix of multiple Indian spices with cumin seeds and black peppercorn as main ingredients. What many people do not know is that chaat masala also has mint leaves. Although chaat masala is readily available in the market the taste of homemade one is extremely delicious and assures you of quality and freshness.

This homemade chaat masala can be used to enhance the taste of chaats, vadas or cutlets, salads and many other snack items. This homemade masala is very handy and you can easily store it in a clean dry bottle for a very long time.

Here is the detailed recipe of making flavorful chaat masala at home.

Chaat Masala

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup Cumin Seeds
  • 3 tbsp Black Pepper Corn
  • 2 tbsp Black Salt
  • ½ tsp Asafoetida
  • tsp Nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp Salt
  • 20-25 Mint Leaves
  • ½ tsp Dry Ginger Powder
  • ½ tsp Citric Acid
  • 2 tbsp Dry Mango Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder

Instructions
 

  • In a pan dry roast cumin seeds on a low heat and keep stirring to avoid burning.
  • Once cumin is crisp add black pepper corn and roast for a while.
  • After roasting transfer it to a bowl and let it cool down completely.
  • In the same pan add mint leaves and dry roast on a low flame till crisp.
  • Once leaves are crisp turn off the heat but keep stirring the leaves in it.
  • To make chaat masala add all the ingredients in a grinder and grind to make a fine powder.
  • After grinding take a sieve and sieve masala through it.
